Star Thoughts

I think of them on
Warm wooden boards by
Deep, cool mountain streams.

Reflections on water that
Flows to a lake lost
In a solemn, star-studded
Wood. These

Stars above cabins locked
For months and for
Years of silence in the
Clapping aspens on passes where
The road is blocked by
Boulders but…

The stars are there. They
Are always there. Guides in
The dark of dreams in caves
Near quiet, unknown
Falls. Stars that light

Paths in pines that stretch
To the town we
Have been searching for,
Have been searching for…
These stars. I

Think of them.

This has such a feel of gentle remembered moments where the stars seem to stand watch has we muddle our way through life. Just so enjoyed the images you give us.

There is such a wonderful sense of nostalgia in those lakes and cabins.. (to really be close to the stars we have to leave the light pollution)… Inspired write, with some splendid work on those linebreaks……

Indeed the stars guide us when we have lost our way!
    Well penned 😀

I really can feel this one, Matthew. I feel as if I am walking through a silent forest contemplatively. Yes, the stars are always there… think about and guide our way!

This is such a gentle, thoughtful poem. I’ve had to close my eyes a few times while reading the words to feel that silence, that waiting, that searching. Excellent use of line breaks enjambment? It’s a new term to me so I am not sure. But I do enjoy this poem so very much.

You mirror the stars against the quiet, stillness of a “solemn” wood so beautifully. I so enjoyed this.

I love your alliteration here. I wandered this starlit path with you. Beautiful.

Familiar with the setting, I wallowed in the slow pace and word by word description of the lakes, night, Aspens and cabins. A sanctuary under those stars we know are always there.

    a spring
    hill away
    from city ights..
    oh stars.. you quiet..
    you peaceful.. you just
    orbit black hole suns..
    oh humans.. some
    poor in spirit..
    no orbit at
