Voyages on Sunny Days

He set out like a Modern Ulysses. Always
Leaving. Skipping plans and
Waves that, at times, push up against
His bare boat as
He moves along. He

Skips along the sea. He
Happy only at the far-off sight
Of rain clouds. Thunder that
Threatens.

Oh, those last two lines are perfect! Happy only when threat is looming….hmmmm. Thought-provoking. Nicely done.

Something about this reminds me of Tennyson’s Maud, or part of it…the beat happy stars….part. Although it seems your Ulysses likes the thunder rather than the peace. Thank you for responding to this prompt!

I like that thought of setting out at sail.. there is a sense of adventure in your poem… a story that might unfold… on border of the thunderstorms-

What does Ulysses need of plans? The adventure is greater when spontaneous.

I think many of us wish to just skip everything and live carefree – even if its just for a little bit.

Speaks to me of a somewhat restless soul who likes to live on the edge or at least not in the mainstream of life.

That bare boat leaves one wondering. An adventure seeker for sure.

An adventurer who doesn’t look back or miss what he “skipped” but heads bold into danger…that’s the picture you painted!

I traveled with your traveler. You took me there. It helps that we have a thunderstorm in progress here….
