Black Birds and Mountains

January, 2017

The black birds come
Down and by large, white
Windows with views out

To mountains that back to
Mountains that stretch to
Lakes up tall pine roads.

These black
Birds. They do not
Stay but squawk and perch
With such menacing eyes. While

Out beyond are hills and
Streams and paths that line
Up to mountains that stretch
To mountains I just
Cannot see.

I actually see a scene I remember from Gold Hill with those hills beyond hills. Just beyond the old graveyard…

You painted this so well that I could see it all.

Clever use of enjambment to make the reader really think about the details of this viewing.

Perhaps in some way – not seeing the mountains.. but them being visible is a way of seeing them.. as ever a thoughtful poem.. a real philosophical propsotion

Hey! That was a tough one to read, but, was captured in your interesthing theme.
I once had a mentor (who use to piss me off) use to say take each line and describe what you meant with it… then take the next line etc. I’m think’n that’s a novel! Naw he was right . Each line has it’s interesting and clear background creating the next line.
🙂 Always enjoy visiting here reading your creativity
