Thoughts on Lost Lines

I could not find the
Best lines to write to
The lone man high
Up on trails I
Cannot find…

Giving them to the wind
Or the mailboxes with
A flag always up but
Never put down. I owe
It to a quiet stream or a

Night-time terror that half
Wakes you up and in dream
States I reach out and think of
Songs of hills and lines I threw
To the wind and now…

Cannot find.

I like this, to me it talks about the lonely men the world has forgotten… the image of the mailbox is especially succinct to me.

Sometimes one feels that one cannot find the best lines….but to write lines at all is an accomplishment.

To me this speaks of the quest to find the lines that will reach – and perhaps – resonate with that lone man … the muse inside of all poets who knows when we’ve got it right. Great job on this!
